Gastroenterology

Gastroenterology is a medical treatment branch that covers the entire digestive system. Diseases which affect the gastrointestinal tract, including stomach, gallbladder, pancreas, esophagus, small and large intestine can become chronic. The correct diagnosis as well as treatment of gastrointestinal diseases is imperative.

Indian hospitals and clinics have the best gastroenterology treatment facilities and gastroenterologists owing to the prevalence of these diseases. If you notice any symptoms, such as losing weight for unexplained reasons and bowel habits change, then you could be suffering from gastrointestinal diseases. Persisting symptoms like constipation, blood in stool, abdominal pain, Diarrhea, Gastro-esophageal reflux disease or acid reflux demand a specialist visit. The doctor would suggest endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, colonoscopy, and liver biopsy for proper diagnosis.

Gall Bladder Surgery

This procedure is called cholecystectomy too, and aimed at removing gallbladder if there are gallstones. The procedure is minimally invasive as surgeons make minute incisions in the abdomen and the stones are accessed with a laparoscope.  If bigger incisions are made, then the treatment is called cholecystectomy.

Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic surgery is minimally invasive and preferred for diverticulitis, colorectal cancer, ulcerative colitis, rectal prolapse, Crohn’s disease, severe constipation not treatable with medication, large colon polyps, familial polyposis, and bowel incontinence. If you have been facing any pain or discomfort, then it can be resolved with laparoscopic surgery, which takes much less time than surgery.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Collective disorders occurring due to inflamed intestines and as a result of an autoimmune reaction of the body to its own tissue, are called Inflammatory bowel disease. Crohn’s disease occurs in the small intestine or any point in the gastrointestinal tract. Ulcerative colitis occurs in the large intestine only. Da Vinci robotic surgery has been found to be most convenient as it is minimally-invasive and the recovery is fast.

Whipple Surgery

This surgery removes tumors from the pancreas, thus increasing the lifespan of pancreatic patients. The surgeon will first remove the duodenum, gallbladder, top of the pancreas and part of the common bile duct. Then the surgeon will connect your pancreas with the digestive organs. This is a major surgery but hospitals and clinics in India have a history of successful outcomes that have saved lives of many patients.

Cirrhosis

Extreme scarring of the liver makes its regeneration impossible. The reasons could be fatty liver, diabetes, alcoholism, or frequent heart failure that leads to fluid accumulation in the liver, blocked duct, and viral infection. Liver cirrhosis treatment is carried out with liver transplantation, early cancer detection or cancer prevention, and treatment of other cirrhosis complications.

Hernia

In this condition, parts of the intestine or abdominal fatty tissue bulge out from the body cavity. You may face extreme discomfort, such as severe pain. Sometimes an emergency situation is created when the blood supply is cut off, thus creating pressure on blood vessels. Our doctors advise hernia surgery when it becomes difficult to perform day-to-day activities.
